You Can't Hear Inside My Mind?

What an interesting concept? Maybe that would be the super power I would want, or maybe not. That might just be to much to hear inside everyone's mind. Maybe just to hear inside my husband and children's mind?!? Hmmm?

Well today at Peyton's piano lessons he was playing through a song that he would be playing this upcoming week, so sight reading, and not giving the notes their full count.
He struggles with counting (at least out loud). I think he got that from my sister :)

So his teacher, who is a very sweet lady, asks him to count out loud. And the conversation goes like this:

Peyton: "I'm counting in my mind"

Teacher: "But I can't hear you"

Peyton: "But I can"

Well he just might have something there. I guess we do hear what's in our own mind. But if we are to "get it right", sometimes we have to "count out loud" and let others hear us.

Thanks Peyton!!

We Love Target!

We love Target and usually spend too much money with each trip we make :)

Yesterday Addison and I were making a quick trip to Target before her dance class so we could get me some new pajamas for "Pancake and Pajama" day at her school (see yesterday's post). So we zip in and Addison in her cute little pink leaotard and tights and tennis shoes is trying to keep up with me. So we go to the pajama section and Addison tries to have me get this little teddy. "Because it's pretty" I tell her probably not appropriate to wear to school and we go looking at the other choices. She ends up picking this lovely number with pink and purple hearts all over the pants and a nice benign black shirt.

Pajamas--check

So now we have the pajamas and I say, "Since we were so quick let's go grab a couple of other things Mommy needs." (Printer ink and shampoo and conditioner) She is so very agreeable and we head towards the electronic section for ink. She is a few steps behind me.

Now here's where we have trouble. . .you know the BIG, WHITE posts that they have in Target? I think maybe they hold up the roof :) Well Addison apparently does not know about those, except she really does because we have had very near misses, many, many times. This time though it's like slow motion as I turn around to make sure she is still right behind me and before I can say, "Addison, watch out!" She runs square into the post, face right into it, nose smashed. I am kind of thinking to myself, BROKEN NOSE. She stops, stunned and looks at me and then bursts into tears. I pick her up and then she says, "Oh no Mom there is blood on your shirt and purse, my nose is bleeding." So I put her down and I am searching in my purse for some kind of kleenex, wipe, anything. . . nothing!

So there we are at the end of the toy aisle with blood all over Addison's hands, nose, and some on her cupcake raincoat (which she is not thrilled about) and me on my shirt, purse and a little on my hands with nothing to wipe it up with.

Luckily at that exact time a very nice lady from our ward is walking by, and she just happens to have toilet paper in her cart she is buying. So she pulls out a roll and hands it to us. We get cleaned up, come very near having to file "an incident" report with a Target employee, and are off to get our ink.

Ink-Check

We do not get our shampoo and conditioner, which I now need desperately.

Addison told her dance class, and teacher, her school class and teacher, and Peyton and Joe all about it. So much for a quick trip to Target!

But we still love you Target, even with BIG, WHITE posts throughout your store :)

P is for. . .

"P" is for. . .

Penguins and Peyton, Peyton is doing a penguin project for school. He could choose the type of penguin that he wanted to become an "expert on" and so we are learning a lot about Emperor Penguins :) If you want to learn about them call Peyton :) Did you know that they can hold their breath for 18-20 minutes under water. Wow!! Stay tuned for the finished project. We are working on it with vim and vigor.

Pancake and Pajama day at school with Addison. Today she had pancakes for snacks and because they were using hot griddles and having the kids watch they also had a parent helper day. So I volunteered and Addison picked me out some pink and purple heart jammies and we went to school. Addison's class was very fun.

"I Miss My Grandma"

Addison and Grandma Cherie at Froggy Field Day.

Addison misses her grandma! She started randomly mentioning it about a month ago. "I miss my Grandma" here and "I miss my Grandma there". It started to get more and more frequent a couple of weeks ago. Peyton and I were scheduled to fly down to Utah the first weekend in February for my niece's baptism and Joe and Addison were to stay behind in Seattle.

One Saturday afternoon she must have said "I miss my Grandma" about four times. So later that afternoon I checked flight prices on Peyton and my flight. And then thought I'd talk to Joe about it later. I got busy that night and forgot to mention it to Joe. The next day he and Addison stayed home from church because she had a cold. When Peyton and I got home from church Joe told me that again 3-4 times she had mentioned how she missed her Grandma. And we both knew there was no way that Peyton and I could hop on a plane to see Grandma and not take Addison. So I bought her a ticket!!

She continues to say that she missed Grandma and two times last week I found her in tears over it. One time in her room because she saw a Pez dispenser that evidently my mom gave her and the second time at school drop off when she was mad at me. She started sobbing just as the lady was getting her out of the car, "I miss my Grandma". She lady asked where her Grandma was. Still sobbing, "In Utah".

We'll see you soon Grandma!!

THE RULES--8/10 points yesterday
(I chose sweets and unhealthy snacks as my two pointer. Obviously "that's a tricky one" as Peyton would say. The secretary in our Primary Presidency brought these delicious little key lime tarts (and I love key lime tarts). But here's to a better day tomorrow.)

**2 servings of fruits and 2 servings of vegetables
**No sodas, sweets, or unhealthy snacks
**15 minutes reading scripture of spiritual text
**Getting dressed and ready for the day (hair and makeup included)
**1 journal entry (a blog counts!) You may see me more often :)
**1 expression of love appreciation, or praise to spouse

The first round goes from now until mid June when I get back with a couple of special people and we can add up and see who won round 1. (Reward TBD)

Have a wonderful relaxing Sunday!!
