I was so young.

So Addison pulls this picture off the piano today and brings it to me. . .

She says, "Mom this is me when I was a baby."

"Yes it is," I say, "You were pretty stinkin' cute when you were a baby."

Then I pause and say, "Actually you are still pretty stinkin' cute."

She looks up at me, real innocent like, then looks back at the picture that she is holding in her hand. She lets out a little sigh and focuses on the picture.

And says, "I was so young."

"Yes you were," I say as I am trying very hard not to laugh.

I was so young?

Where does she get this from? It's as if she is so old now!

She keeps me on my toes :)

Project 365. . .

Want to see what we have been up to?

Deer in the yard. I think they only come when J.D. is in the house. There were three this day.

Karate with Sensei Dulce--It's good focus practice for Peyton.

Piano lessons--Peyton is already picking out songs. He loves to try to pick out the Harry Potter theme, and it actually sounds like it.

Addison lays out her clothes--and I mean lays them out exactly how she will wear them. She even has underwear in the pants :)

Check out these tree socks they put on some dead tree stumps in Sammamish. These are the Spring ones, we had Winter ones as well. Addison of course really loves the pink ones. We pass them every day on the way to her school.

Red Sox game ball

Peyton loves baseball!!

He never complains to go to practice and really enjoys it while he is there. He has working a lot on his batting. He has a fabulous swing but does not always keep his eye on where the ball is :) Therefore has a fair amount of strikes.

So he has been working on it and practicing with mom and dad at the park when the weather cooperates.

He plays for the Red Sox--Eastside Little League team.

On Saturday we had a fantastic, beautiful, sunny day in Sammamish. He had his game that morning. In the second inning he had a great hit!!

After the game he was the recipient of the game ball for the game for his hit in the 2nd!!

Hard work pays off!!

What feels like home?

How do you know when you are home?

How long does it take to adjust to living somewhere else? I feel like I am adjusted and it feels like home when I am actually HOME. But when I am out and about, Washington just doesn't feel like home right now :(

It might be the grey skies. . .

Or when my family all gets together in Utah and we are not there. . .

Or Joe's family being a good drive away. . .

Or maybe a combination of all things.

Luckily I have my wonderful husband (who actually is home a lot of the time now) and my two adorable fun children!!

We have a lot of times that are really GOOD and a few NOT SO GOOD. And we love it all!

But I guess HOME is where your family is. So for now home is here.

But I do miss Utah right now!

Fantastic Fair

The Spring Fair

Peyton got a special treat on Friday and got to miss school to go to the Spring Fair with Paul.

I gave him the option a few days before because he really does love school and does not like to miss it if he doesn't have to. And he was torn but decided on the fair as "he didn't want Martine and Paul to be sad".

So we headed down to Puyallup Friday morning and got there right as it opened. We saw the kids booths, the Stihl lumberjack show, played a bunch of games (the boys opted out of rides).

Peyton made a haul with the prizes (of course we mostly played the games where "every player gets a prize") however Peyton did fish out the fish or frog that had the red dot, giving him the large prize. He picked a large dragon. He also got a bat, a pink pig for his sister, and a dog, and some cotton candy to take home. He was thrilled by the whole day and had a great time!!

All the loot!

Mom and Peyton at the fair

The red-large prize fish. See how the lady looks a bit surprised? People evidently don't pick that very often :) Good job Peyton!

Breakfast, breakfast, and breakfast

Normally you have breakfast, lunch and dinner, but. . .

. . . today Peyton got breakfast, breakfast and breakfast.

We got up this morning and of course had breakfast (bacon and scrambled eggs).

Then he went to school and had school lunch today and had breakfast, french toast (which I had totally forgotten they were having).

And for dinner I was trying to think of something easy because it was just the kids and I, so I thought "breakfast for dinner" and we had breakfast (pancakes and eggs).

And as we are finishing up Peyton says to me, "Mom, I had breakfast, breakfast and breakfast today! Yessss!!!"

Luckily he liked it. He must be a breakfast person (like my brother Justin, he always did like breakfast the best).

I think tomorrow we'll steer clear of breakfast foods :) Maybe dinner for breakfast?!

"The Force is strong with this One. . ."

We went to the Pacific Science Center today as an after school activity, to go to the Star Wars exhibit.

Peyton and Addison did not know where we were going, so we played 20 questions.

Mostly Peyton played with a few questions from Addison.

He guessed at around 15 questions. . .

. . .and then he could hardly talk he was so excited!

(Addison was not. . .she thought we should be going to a princess exhibit.)

Young Padawan Peyton

"The Force is strong with these two"

"Help me Peyton and Addison, you are my only hope. . ."

What have we been doing?

(Project 365 still going strong)

We are on our second week of Spring Break. . .

Peyton's was last week

and Addison's is this week

I guess when you live in a city that has two different school districts it is bound to happen.

We have not done anything very exciting and outrageous.

It has rained a WHOLE lot

but some SUN is due this weekend. Here's crossing my fingers.

Here's some pictures from our Project 365:

Peyton makes some kind of LEGO creation most nights during his quiet time before bed

Addison however removes all the books from her shelf and methodically stacks them all around her on the bed during her quiet time
Peyton and Joe did some personal servitude for me in order to earn LEGO Star Wars III game for the Wii they both so desperately wanted, plus some money they had

Went to La Conner to visit Joe's parents. Walked around town, got some yummy sweet potatoe fries that we like at the produce market and then had dinner at Joe's parents. It was a nice trip, once the rain stopped :) And we even got a peek at all the lovely daffodils in Skagit Valley

New umbrellas! It seemed like it might be a good time to buy the kids umbrellas. Living in Washington and all.

As a side note: I'm sure you all think that I had abandoned THE RULES (see January post)

But I have not.

So in the spirit of accountability. . .

I have not always done well, there are days that I have gotten only 3/10 and a few rare days of 10/10, but I have recorded it every day so far. and it keeps me striving.

And with that said, have a wonderful Spring Break for those who have not yet had it.
