Today there was a snowstorm predicted.
Snow is crazy in Seattle!
Remember how we had snow yesterday? Well we were supposed to get some more today. This was supposed to happen at 3:30.
We had a birthday party to go to first though---about 1 1/2 hours north of where we live.
Today is Joe's dad's birthday!
He had a birthday party planned with the grandkids. . .
. . .at the Jungle Playland.
The kids had a great time!!
(for the record the roads were fine up and bherack)
They played and played!
It's kind of like a McDonalds playland x 10 :)
Then we had pizza and cake and ice cream.
Happy 68th Birthday Grandfather!
On the way home we had to stop by and take care of our friend's animals while they were away.
They have a duck, two guinea pigs, and two birds.
We keep them with food, water and clean.
(Actually I do that part)
The kids play with the animals--at least the guinea pigs :)
Addison like to have them snuggle in her coat :) |
Then we rushed to the grocery stoer on the way home to grab a few things for the week and some noodles for chicken noodle soup tonight.
And the store was a mad house--as they were again predicting snow for tomorrow and so evidently people were stocking up :)
Milk was out
every checkstand had a checker
every checkstand had a huge line
it was crazy!
But we made it home to make cornbread and chicken noodle soup.
Chicken Noodle Soup
I make homemade soup but I don't really have a recipe :)
I just throw in carrots, onions (that I like to saute first), chicken broth, chicken bouillon, cut up chicken (today I used a whole roasted chicken), frozen egg noodles, parsley and sometimes some roux to thicken it and make it creamier.
I made the cornbread recipe on the Alber's cornmeal box. We like ours with a little butter and honey.
The kids love it and it is a perfect soup week here in Seattle!
