What's for dinner? Day 35

When you were little did you get to pick your favorite dinner for your birthday?

Or maybe pick a restaurant?

We did when we were little.

My mom would make whatever we wanted!

Tonight for dinner we had what I very often chose for my birthday dinner :)

My mom would also make it sometimes for holidays and change the color.

Valentines Day--pink
St. Patrick's Day--green

It's not very fancy, but is a delicious sandwich!!

Hero Sandwich

1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup boiling water
 3 Tbsp water

Stir together and cool

1 Tbsp. yeast
3/4 cup warm water
1 Tbsp. sugar

Combine in a small bowl

Add yeast to oat mixture and add the follwoing:

2 eggs, at room temperature
1 Tbsp. dried onion
1 tsp salt
3 Tbsp sugar
2 1/2 cups flour

Mix together and pour onto a well greased pan.  Glaze the top with the following:

1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. garlic salt

Raise in warm place for 30 minutes.  Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes.  Cool.  Slice open and layer your favorite sandwich fillings: deli meat, cheese, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, ranch dressing, mayo mustard, etc.  Cut and serve in wedges.  Yum! Yum!
