What's for dinner? Day 36

Have you ever had Cincinnati Chili?

We had it growing up every so often.

I have no idea where my mom got the recipe (I don't think she ever went to Cincinnati).

But I remembered it being good, so we tried it.  It is different than regular chili, different spices.

I looked it up and found that:

Ordering Cincinnati chili is based on this series of ingredients: chili, spaghetti, grated cheddar cheese, diced onions, and kidney beans. The number before the "way" of the chili determines which ingredients are included in each chili order. Thus, customers can order a:
Bowl: chili in a bowl

Two-way: chili and spaghetti

Three-way: chili, spaghetti, and cheese

Four-way: chili, spaghetti, cheese, and onions

Five-way: chili, spaghetti, cheese, onions, and beans

and optionally, the:
Four-way bean: chili, spaghetti, cheese, and beans (beans substituted for the onions)

We had three-way.

Peyton LOVED it!  Had it all over his face and had two maybe three helpings :)

Addison was very tired that day, had had way to many snacks and completely melted down at the table.  Said it was to spicy, cried and carried on.  And ate the rest because I told her it was her choice, she could eat it and have some dessert, or not eat it and have no dessert :)

Cincinnati Chili

1 lb ground beef
2 cups water
2 onions, chopped
1 glove garlic, chopped
3 tsp. vinegar
1 15 oz. can tomato sauce
2 Tbsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp. crushed hot peppers
2 bay leaves
1/2 tsp. allspice
2 dashes worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. cumin
Salt and pepper to taste

combine all ingredients in crock put.  Cook 4 hours on high or 12 hours on low.  Serve layered with spaghetti, kidney beans, chili sause, cheese and chopped onions.

Forgot a picture--until I was packing Joe's lunch.
